Strike Action – Port of Gothenburg
A new strike in the Port of Gothenburg during week 8 was announced on Friday 10th February. The announcement includes the following periods;
Tuesday 21st February 2017 – 13:00hrs to 17:00hrs
Tuesday 21st February 2017 – 22:00hrs to Wednesday 22nd February 02:00hrs
Thursday 23rd February 2017 – 12:00hrs to 20:00hrs
Some ocean carriers have announced that their vessels will omit Gothenburg due to the announced strike.
Carriers that will call the port of Gothenburg for loading or unloading containers at APM terminal could be affected.
This new round of industrial action adds to the current and past issues endured at APM terminals over recent months. Persistent performance problems and delays are also due to many factors including earlier industrial action.
Some Ocean Carriers are forced to implement booking limitations or even complete booking stops temporarily.
APM Terminals informs on their website that export cargo can be delivered to Gothenburg port two days prior to departure, still maintaining current closing times and all carriers request that this is adhered to.
With any enquiries regarding container shipments that could be affected by this industrial action clients are advised to contact their appointed service suppliers.
